Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) represent the Lehigh County Democratic Committee (LCDC) in their precinct and are voting members of the LCDC, electing LCDC officers. Two registered Democrats may serve in each precinct. PCPs are elected to a four year term, in the primary election for the Governor of Pennsylvania. The LCDC may appoint a PCP if vacancies occur between these elections.

As a Committee Person, you serve a vital role as a local contact to connect your Democratic neighbors to the political process. You are the heart, soul, and strength of the party. Grassroots democracy begins with YOU. You represent the party to your neighbors and community and in turn you are the eyes and ears on the ground for both the County Party and State Party.

It is well known that people react far more positively to neighbors, so this is a great opportunity to participate in building and supporting party unity on a local level. As a PCP,  you can be a valuable resource for voters who have questions about upcoming elections, voting, candidates, and party participation.

As a PCP, you will have the opportunity to participate in efforts such as Get Out The Vote drives, distributing election literature, reminding the Democrats in your precinct to vote, putting campaign signs up in your area, registering new voters, and greeting voters at the polling place. You will make the difference in elections. With your active and ongoing help in your precinct,  we will succeed in electing good Democrats to all levels of public office.

Your work as a PCP will be supported and encouraged by the Upper Lehigh Democratic Club (ULDC). You will receive training and you will be provided with additional non-elected volunteers in your precinct.

To help you in finding and contacting registered voters in your precinct, the ULDC has access to data about voters’ registration and election participation in a sophisticated database called Votebuilder.  As a PCP,  you can sign up to be trained to access this information yourself, or you can get voter information from the ULDC. It’s exciting to see how your efforts as a PCP result in increased Democratic voting in your precinct.
